One 60-day voyage around the Land Down Under is being halted following the death of an elderly woman who was stranded by the cruise liner on a distant tropical isle.

The passenger had been hiking on the remote island with shipmates from the Coral Adventurer, but parted ways from the party for a pause. The liner sailed away leaving her and returned several hours later after the personnel became aware the woman was missing.

An extensive search operation found her person the following day.

Authorities are looking into the tragedy, in coordination with investigators and the official investigator.

The CEO of the cruise operator stated that guests and crew on the ship were informed that the continuation of the journey had been called off due to the "tragic passing and previous engine troubles".

Via official communication, he mentioned that passengers would be provided a complete reimbursement, and said the company was working "to arrange the return journeys of the travelers via private aircraft".

Authorities also released an latest statement, and said they had "delivered a directive to the Captain" preventing any further travelers from entering the ship.

The official said that they would visit the ship in the port city upon its return.

The ship originally sailed from the Australian port on the 24th of October, and was just two days into the journey at the point of the 80-year-old's demise. The tropical location was the opening port on the voyage.

She continued that she hoped the inquiry would be able to determine what "the organization should have performed that might have protected Mother's existence".

"According to reports from the investigators that it was a very hot afternoon, and mother took sick on the hill climb," she revealed.

"Officials suggested her to go back, unescorted. Then the ship left, reportedly without doing a passenger count.

In a statement, the Chief Executive affirmed that the operator was "working closely with officials to assist their investigation".

He mentioned that the company was "very regretful that this has transpired" and had offered its complete assistance to the family.

The vessel serves up to a hundred twenty passengers with 46 staff, according to corporate information. It was specially constructed to access remote locations of the nation's coast and is fitted with "tenders" - minor craft used to transport individuals on day excursions.
